Last year YA provided more than 3,000 music, dance, visual art, and theatre learning experiences to more than 200,000 students in schools and community organizations across the state. It is only with community support from foundations, corporations, government entities, and individuals that YA can provide deeply discounted services to Title I schools, schools with high populations of special needs students, and schools in rural areas. In many cases, these experiences serve as a child’s only cultural experience for the year.
We need your support to ensure that:
-
Every child in Maryland benefits from arts-in-education experiences, resulting in a 21st Century workforce of innovative and creative thinkers
-
More teachers learn how to use arts in the classroom to engage all types of learners and thereby reduce school dropout rates and increase achievement in our schools
-
Professional artists play a more meaningful role in educating and developing our youth through the power of the art
Please join us in making a difference in the lives of Maryland students: contact YA at 410-837-7577 to learn more about becoming a supporter. Examples of my donation at work include:
$2,000: I have afforded 80 youth an opportunity to engage in positive and meaningful arts learning experiences. I have ensured that YA can continue to underwrite the costs of after school instruction in music, dance, visual arts, and theatre which will ultimately support student’s social and developmental growth and deter them from drugs or gang activity.
$1,000: I have empowered 50 inner city classroom teachers with the skills and confidence to engage all types of learners in their classroom and increase reading and writing grade levels.
$500: I have introduced 250 elementary school students to Europe and English literature through Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
$100: I have made an African dance workshop available to 25 high school students, encouraging them to apply discipline, dedication, and responsibility to all that they do.
$60: I have made a contribution in honor of YA’s 60th anniversary, ensuring that its next 60 years are as bright as its first.
